A race against yourself, with some beautiful surroundings, is sometimes all it takes to get your butt moving.

Bed To Bed

Starting strong.Sunrise kisses my forehead as I wind through clapping trees.Optimism dances with the daisies in the fields. The thud of my feet a drum in the orchestra of birds chirping and cows mooing.A slow burn starts to rise with the sun in my legs.Small beads of sweat, like dew on the leaves.Sheep shouting for me as I pass,Birds chirping with support.Weary as the willow on the river edge, I start the hill.Road lines pull me up the hill, screaming in silence as pain climbs,As a charley horse gallops over my legs. The sun smiles, melting the tar as it drags me down. The windmill, a mirage of a fanning breeze.Over the top, the seagull calls.I can taste the salty shore as sweat pours down my face.Waves crash on the beach in beat with my heart. The wind whistles for me as I pass, my knees creaking like the rusty gates in the field. As I stumbled onto the beach, unsteady as the sand, my body rejoiced.I scuttle with the crabs into the sea,To lie on the ocean bed.

As I lay in the cool water, letting the sea soothe tired muscles and calm a racing heart, I felt proud of myself. Sometimes you just need to push your limits to discover what you’re capable of.
